The genus Synalpheus (Decapoda: Alpheidae) from China seas is reviewed. Thirty one species belonging to this genus are described and illustrated in the present paper, including 4 new species and 6 newly recorded species from the China seas as following: S. brevrostrus sp. nov., S. jinqingensis sp. nov., S. liui sp. nov., S. tonkinensis sp. nov., S. biunguiculatus (Stimpson, 1860), S. gracilirostris de Man, 1910, S. iphinoe de Man, 1909, S. lophodactylus Coutière, 1908, S. modestus de Man, 1909 and S. mortenseni Banners, 1985. A key to 31 species of the genus Synalpheus from China seas is provided.

Five spider species of the genus Otacilia Thorell, 1897 from Hainan Island are reported, including two species described as new to science, O. biarclata sp. nov. and O. florifera sp. nov. and three species reported, O. bawangling Fu, Zhang & Zhu, 2010, O. jianfengling Fu, Zhang & Zhu, 2010, and O. limushan Fu, Zhang & Zhu, 2010. The male of O. limushan is reported here for the first time. Morphological illustrations and descriptions of new species and O. limushan are presented, and photos of all species are provided.

Two new species, Caryanda cyanonota sp. nov. and C. shuangjianga sp. nov. are described and illustrated. The male genitalia of C. amplexicerca Ou, Liu & Zheng, 2007 is complementally described. A new species group of Caryanda amplexicerca-species group is proposed to contain the above three allied species. A key to the species group is provided. Type specimens are deposited in the Biological Science Museum, Dali University (BMDU), Yunnan Province, China.

The molecular phylogenetics of the Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths) is well studied, but that of Trichoptera (caddisflies), the sister clade of Lepidoptera, is less studied. The PCR primer libraries developed for lepidopteran phylogenetics might work in Trichoptera. DNA from 8 caddisfly species (Asynarchus nigriculus (Banks, 1908), Grammotaulius lorettae Denning, 1941, Hesperophylax occidentalis (Banks, 1908), Limnephilus externus Hagen, 1861, Limnephilus picturatus McLachlan, 1875, Limnephilus secludens Banks, 1914, Limnephilus sublunatus Provancher, 1877 and Agrypnia deflata (Milne, 1931)) was used to screen for amplification. 107 primer pairs for 45 nuclear and 3 mitochondrial genes were tested. Primers for 1 new gene (40S ribosomal protein S2 (RPS2)) and 8 genes previously used in Trichopteran phylogenetics were recovered (16S rRNA, 18S rRNA, carbamoyl-phosphate synthetase (CAD), cytochrome oxidase I (COI), cytochrome oxidase II (COII), elongation factor-1 alpha (EF-1 alpha), isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH), and RNA polymerase-II (POL-II)). New primer pairs extended the genomic region sampled for many genes. Evolution rates among loci varied by 2 orders of magnitude. Differences among evolution rates and modes of inheritance offer flexible tools for resolving phylogenetic questions and examining genome evolution in the Trichoptera. Screening libraries of PCR primers is a useful approach for identifying PCR primers in related taxa with limited molecular genetic resources.

Three species of the genus Eugauria Snellen are reported, in which two species are described as new to science, named E. arcuosa Chen & Wu, sp. nov. and E. crenata Chen & Wu, sp. nov. The adults and genitalia structures of all species are described and illustrated. A key to the species of the genus is provided.
